Understanding The Medicare Advantage Disenrollment Period (MADP)
The Medicare Advantage Disenrollment Period runs every year from January 1st to February 14th. During this time, any individual on a Medicare Advantage Plan can switch to Original Medicare.
The Medicare Advantage Disenrollment Period also provides an opportunity for those individuals to enroll in a Part D Prescription Drug Plan, if they haven’t already done so.
The effective date of disenrollment is the first of every month. So for those who opt to disenroll in January, their new coverage will begin February 1st.
